About Marc

Hi there, I’m Marc! I created this space to share my thoughts and experiences in the field of health and wellness, and offer my services both in-person and online to individuals and groups interested in fitness, health, and wellness. I have worked in this industry as a personal trainer for the past 5 years, but have been interested in and affected by health and wellness in all aspects of my life for as long as I can remember (haven’t we all?!) My senior year in high school I was a tri-sport athlete, and decided to pursue a certification in personal training as part of a school project… I had no idea how useful, interesting, and engaging this would prove to be over the next few years. I went on to spend 4 years as a student at Duquesne University, where I had the opportunity to work as a personal and group trainer with students, faculty and staff. I worked with the student preparing for spring break, the weight-lifter preparing for competition, the professor rehabilitating after an injury, as well as having the opportunity to design and lead group fitness classes where I worked with all of these groups in one unique and dynamic atmosphere.

I have worked with middle school, high school, and college athletes preparing for competition, as well as countless individuals and groups preparing for a variety of lifestyle activities. I have created and led classes and programs focused on weight-lifting, weight-loss, boxing, obstacle course racing, functional training, youth athletes, and yoga. While I enjoy fitness and exercise, I believe true health preparation and maintenance for any lifestyle requires a comprehensive biopsychosocial approach. This model takes into account all aspects of an individual’s life to understand how biological, psychological, and social factors impact his/her goals. Much of my work as a wellness coach is focused on helping others achieve that goal- to formulate a step-by-step plan of action to create possibilities and maintain lasting change in any and all aspects of life. This ideology can be applied not only to individuals, but also groups such as businesses, sports teams, friends, and families.

 

I currently hold the following certifications: Certified Personal Trainer-NETA, Certified Wellness Coach-NETA, Certified Yoga Instructor-NETA, Wilderness First Responder-WMA (includes CPR/AED/First-Aid). I have experience working with individuals and groups in both traditional and non-traditional fitness settings, and I specialize in functional training, wellness coaching/consulting, and group/team dynamics.
